Kids will be kids, and even the best frames can only withstand so much.  That's why every pair of children's glasses at our practice include a one year manufacturer's defect warranty. The majority of our children spectacles we supply at no charge under The NHS Voucher System.

As a patient led practice we find letting your child have some input in deciding on their glasses helps immensely. Frames they help to choose are more than likely to be worn with out any fuss or tears. There are more important things in your child's life to argue about than frame colour. Remember that most frames are made in several different colours. If you can’t see what you are looking for, ask us.

If your child is battling to keep their glasses on, first check to see if the glasses fit properly. Children tend not to complain about sore ears and noses as an adult might, so check for redness behind the ears or on the sides of the nose to be sure the frames aren't rubbing uncomfortably or sliding around.

Here are some quick guidelines for choosing the correct type spectacles:

• The arms of the spectacles are long enough to fit around the ear.

• A nose bridge that does not allow the glasses to slide down the nose .

• Plenty of room around the lenses to allow air to flow around the eyes .

• Impact-resistant lenses for very busy active children.
